The Centenary Way crosses 14 municipalities, from Vila Nova de Gaia to Ourém, arriving in Fátima, providing a pilgrimage rich in experiences.
History, nature, gastronomy, and heritage are some examples of what can be explored along these more than 200 km.
This route, conceived and managed by ACF – Associação dos Caminhos de Fátima (Association of the Paths of Fátima), aims to improve safety conditions by partially removing pedestrian and pilgrim traffic from national roads, enabling safer alternatives via secondary roads and paths.
The section of the route that crosses the Municipality of Leiria is approximately 24 km long, takes about 5 hours and 40 minutes, and has an elevation gain of about 280 m.
Along this stage, which heralds the arrival in Fátima, in addition to the beautiful rural landscape you can appreciate, we suggest you take some small detours to get to know Leiria and all its attractions better.
Here you can sample the delicacies of our local cuisine, such as Leitão Boa Vista (Boa Vista Suckling Pig), Morcela de Arroz (Rice Blood Sausage), or the sweet Brisas do Liz (Liz Breezes).
