M|I|MO

The m|i|mo – Museum of the moving image – pays homage to photography and cinema, combining art, science and technique.

The collections of objects displayed at the museum tell the story of the evolution of cinematography, taking visitors on a magnificent journey past the limits of their imaginations, guiding them along a path of light and shadow, colour, rhythm and volume, ingenuity and art… illusion and reality!

M|i|mo was founded as part of the celebrations of the hundredth anniversary of Portuguese Cinema (1996) and, in addition to exhibitions, regularly hosts fun, creative activities.

In 2011, the museum gained recognition from the APOM – Portuguese Association of Museology in the shape of an honourable mention in the category of Best Portuguese Museum.

In 2022, m|i|mo was distinguished with Five Stars Regions Award, in the Museums category.
