This museum, located in a building restored by the renowned architect Siza Vieira, is an ex-libris of the history Leiria´s industry. 1411 marks the beginning of the history of Leiria’s Paper Mill, one of the first of the Iberian Peninsula, at a time in which the milling industry was essential for economic development.
In the quiet banks of the river Lis, the Mill stands out thanks to the structures of the old waterwheels present in the building and to the watermills that exalt the image of a traditional industry from years gone by. Inside, a skilled miller will show the visitors the traditional process of paper production, of which they can take part, as well as that of cereal grinding. After the tour, visitors can buy the flour ground with the energy produced by the river.
