PEDRÓGÃO BEACH
An ’island’ lined by Leiria’s green sea of pine forest on one side, and the Atlantic Ocean on the other, Pedrógão Beach provides visitors with an extensive swathe of sand, the benefits of breathing sea air, Xávega art and tranquillity.
The Estrada Atlântica and its extensive cycle path, as well as being located close to Ervedeira Lake, are two additional attractions and reasons to visit this award-winning beach resort that proudly flies the following flags: Blue Flag, Accessible Beach flag and Gold flag.
A campsite is located south of Pedrógão, where the southern road into the village meets the forest road leading up to Figueira da Foz.
Services provided here include a restaurant area (restaurant, bar, games room and terrace), mini market and fish shop.
The campsite has a sports field perfect for several sports, from 7-A-side handball to indoor football, and basketball to volleyball and tennis, as well as a children’s playground.
Both the south beach (better known as the “campers’ park”) and the central area have the Blue Flag, which certifies water quality, safety and environmental management.
This year, the sea condition signs (green, yellow, red and checkered) keep the colorADD code, making Pedrógão Beach more inclusive.
STAYING SAFE AS PEDRÓGÃO BEACH REOPENS
Swimming season runs from the 10th June to the 19th September.
Come to Pedrógão beach, but make sure you follow all the new recommendations, keeping to the restrictions in place as a result of the context of the COVID-19 pandemic:
> Use the Info Praia app to check how busy the 3 areas of the beach are, and make sure to note the colour of the flag flying upon arrival.
> Take note of the signs provided at various points, read the information and follow the guidelines.
> If you’re walking along Avenida Olímpio Duarte, follow the social distancing rules by keeping to one side of the road, depending on the direction you’re walking in: if you’re heading north-south (Casal Ventoso – Campsite), use the beach-side pavement; if you’re walking in the opposite direction, keep to the inland pavement closest to the houses.
> Keep a social distance of 1.5 metres from other people, and maintain a distance of 3 meters between beach umbrellas, tents, shelters and canopies.
> Any sports involving two or more people shall not be permitted, except for nautical activities, surf lessons and similar sports.
