Sardine Festival
July 9-12 and 16-19, 2026
Hey chef, do you have sardines?
Pedrógão Beach will once again host the emblematic Sardine Festival, a celebration of the queen of our gastronomy, prepared by the hands of the best chefs.
The venue, with a capacity for 800 seated places, consists of several food stalls, run by associations from the parishes of Coimbrão, Monte Redondo, Carreira, Monte Real and Carvide, increasing the capacity to serve grilled sardines, in collaboration with participating restaurants.
Restaurants participating in the event:
– A Rocha
– Quebra-mar
– Rotunda Mar
– AMA
– Marés Vivas
– Âncora
The decoration, inspired by the traditional fishing technique of xávega, provides the perfect setting for the star of the festival: the grilled sardine, served with the authentic flavor of local tradition.
But this festival is not just about sardines. Musical entertainment is another highlight, with musical performances by various Portuguese artists.
Visitors can also enjoy an outdoor leisure area with children’s entertainment, craft fairs, and other local products.
This year, the Sardine Festival brings a new feature: the Sardine Route.
During the two weeks of the festival, several restaurants in Praia do Pedrógão and Leiria will have a special menu for €5, which includes a sardine snack/tapa and a glass of wine or beer.
A different way to enjoy sardines, discover participating restaurants, and make the most of the festival.
Restaurants participating in the route:
– A Rocha
– Quebra-mar
– AMA
– Marés Vivas
– Âncora
– Foco
– Mesa 15
– Cervejaria imperial
Entry is free. What are you waiting for to visit this festival?
