A festival that has taken place every year for the last 23 years, sardines reign supreme over Pedrógão beach during this event.
Good food and good sardines are the focus of this July celebration, eaten either with traditional corn or rye bread, or without, but always with lots of fun and music.
Concerts are held by both local artists and those from all over Portugal, as traditional cafés and bars, children’s play areas, and exhibitions spring up, and about 5 tons of fish are prepared to greet lovers of the beach, the heat, joy and the beauty of sardines.
This summer festival held at Pedrógão Beach celebrates the cuisine, crafts and culture of these people, whose traditions are strongly rooted in the sea and artisanal fishing.
Sardine Festival, we’re all in!
