In 2022, Leiria is European City of Sport!

For one year, Leiria’s sport will be celebrated with pomp and circumstance, in a municipality that breathes sport.

More than 56 percent of the population practices sports, there are more than 6 thousand athletes federated in 180 clubs in activities and more than 40 modalities, having 571 sports facilities available.

With the advent of the new millennium, Leiria became part of the route of the great national and international sport events of the most diverse modalities.

This is a city where pavilions, swimming pools, tracks and public spaces have been regularly filled with athletes and their families.

From the oldest to the youngest, from the most active to the most sedentary, everyone has access to the activity through the most varied initiatives.

Leiria is a municipality that does not admit to leave anybody out.
