Extramuralhas

The X marks the location and makes Leiria the epicenter of the gothic community, who unite in the celebration of a style of music and a way of life.

With more than a dozen editions to its credit, Leiria transforms into the capital of gothic culture, bringing thousands of admirers to the city and helping people relate to the ‘new’ and the ‘different’ in a natural way.

From Entremuralhas to Extramuralhas
Originally named Entremuralhas, the Castle was the main stage for this festival, contributing to the melancholy and romanticism of gothic culture. However, in 2018, the festival was forced to move beyond the walls due to the Castle’s requalification works. The event was thus renamed Extramuralhas, but it did not lose its international reference point and brought to other spaces in the city the opportunity to expand the number of bands hired.
