July and August 2026

During the months of July and August, Leiria Castle hosts the “Castelo em Cena” programme, a visitor experience that brings together heritage, theatre, live music and historical animation.

Inspired by living history projects, the programme brings new life to the monument through the presence of costumed actors, inspired by the medieval period, who move through the castle’s paths, courtyards, gardens, church and palace, interacting with visitors and creating unexpected moments along the way.

On specific days, the visit is also accompanied by live itinerant music performed by CaosArte, in a format with no fixed stage or audience. Music appears naturally throughout the different spaces of the Castle, creating soundscapes that reinforce the immersive nature of the experience.

More than a historical re-enactment, “Castelo em Cena” invites visitors to discover Leiria Castle in a different, closer, more participatory and surprising way.
