In 2019, the path of spoken word MC Rodrigo Brandão – who has alliances with Pharoah Sanders, Rob Mazurek or Prince Paul – crosses that of legendary saxophonist Marshall Allen, current leader of Sun Ra Arkestra.
From this encounter comes the album “Outros Espaço”, recorded at the SESC Jazz Festival and sold out by Comets Coming.
“Outros Estado”, Brandão’s new release, is the result of the LX LIVRE residency, which, in December 2021, brought together fourteen of the most acclaimed national and Brazilian improvisers, in an experience where the public was invited to watch the recording of the record itself.
“Outros Mashup” is a new bifurcation in Brandão and Allen’s careers: four concerts in Portugal that represent a cartography between São Paulo, Lisbon, and New York, overlapping both albums in real time.
Led by Marshall Allen – who will bring along his two band mates Knoel Scott and Elson Nascimento – these performances align different generations of internationally acclaimed artists in a transformative collage of jazz spirituality with Sun Ra’s sunny astrality.
The curtains open at 7pm.
