To talk about Paulo de Carvalho is to talk about 60 years with 20 albums released, a countless number of hits, awards and gold discs, and more than 300 songs.
It’s to talk about someone who sang the first password for the Carnation Revolution, who composed the first song that spoke openly about the scourge of AIDS (Sida Aparecida), who saw his fado, “Lisboa Menina e Moça”, unanimously chosen as the official song of the city of Lisbon.
It is to talk about a path of hard work and great participation in the renewal of Portuguese popular music.
Someone who starts his career in a pop-rock group (Os Sheiks) as a drummer, and who between the 70’s and 77’s wins the Festival RTP da Canção twice. In 1991 he is honored by Casa da Imprensa. In 2009 he was honored by the President of the Republic with the Grau de Oficial da Ordem da Liberdade and in 2012 he received the Gold Medal of the City of Lisbon.
To speak of Paulo de Carvalho is to speak of someone who in 2021 receives the Career Award from the Portuguese Authors Society (SPA) and a nomination for a Career Latin Grammy.
Paulo de Carvalho has marked, like few others, the history of Portuguese popular music.
2022 is the year to celebrate a musical path together with his audience to whom he thanks. It’s 60 years of songs!
Paulo de Carvalho will be accompanied by his septet and will also have a special guest.
The curtains open at 9 pm.
