Mario Lucio recorded the album Kreol in December 2010, featuring Milton Nascimento (Brazil), Harry Belafonte (USA), Cesária Évora (Cape Verde), Pablo Milaanes (Cuba), Teresa Salgueiro (Portugal), Toumani Diabaté (Mali), Ralph Tamar and Mario Canonge (Martinique), among others.
In March 2011, Mario Lucio joined the government, as Cape Verde’s Minister of Culture, when he had already scheduled a European tour, starting at the prestigious New Morning venue in Paris.
This ironic record thus lacked promotion, shows and tours, and there are themes that have never been played live.
Mario Lucio stayed in government until 2016 and, on his return to music, he recorded a new record, Funanight, and with it he toured the World.
In 2021, in a studio experiment, Mario Lucio casually meets 5 Portuguese musicians, who gave him the Creole sound he was looking for, gives them the name Os Kriols, and puts together with them a show with a danceable repertoire, toado of Cape Verdean and African rhythms, full of Morabeza and Sodade, which fits within his philosophy of Creoulização, of identity brotherhood, and is surprising the audience.
Mario Lucio takes the stage at 9:30 pm.
