From the Castle to the Jardim da Vala Real, from Rossio to Moinho do Papel, Medieval Leiria is back, with the theme “The Courts of 1438”, an edition with an ambitious program, which proposes to recreate the realization of the Courts in the town of Leiria, summoned by D. Duarte.
During 4 days we will give life to what would be the town in those times with a battalion of four hundred extras, hundreds of merchants and artisans, dozens of gastronomic spaces, in a scenario full of medieval characters, such as merchants, nobles, commoners, merchants, artisans, mystics and craftsmen.
In this great historical recreation, we will offer about 60 hours of rambling entertainment, in a program where new features stand out, such as the medieval jousting (horseback tournament) in the Vala Real Garden and the Talks on the Middle Ages.
Similar to the previous editions, Medieval Leiria bets on the combination of the historical accuracy with the entertaining side, offering a wide range of activities to the visitors: gastronomy, royal falconry, bird exhibition, animal farm, music, theater, cetraria, crafts, military camp, tournament of weapons, royal parade, court jester, Lusitanian sword, recreations, street animation, scenes from the life of the people, minstrels, exhibitions, medieval writing and illumination workshop, juggling, conversations about the Middle Ages, medieval market, and many other activities.
